The morning shiftThis is the 7.00 - 9.00 am slot on weekdays, 7.30 - 9.00 on Saturdays, manned by volunteers. It involves putting some bread into the oven (you don’t have to make it first!), sorting newspapers, and staffing the counter & till from opening time.

The shop is manned by volunteers on a Saturday, with three shifts: 7.30 -9.00, 9.00 - 11.00 and 11.00 - closing time. We really need more people to help open up the shop and to work on some Saturdays.
It might seem daunting running a shop and using a till, but after a few hours' training, you will wonder what you were worried about! And we really won't leave you on your own until you are happy. Why not spend some time during the week with Liz or Helen seeing what's involved? The cake runWe have a rota of people who take it in turns to go into Richmond to pick up our cake order from Edwina’s, usually on Thursdays around noon. Currently we have six people on the rota, but we welcome some more names to have as back-ups.
Closing the shopIt's very helpful to have people on hand who can help close up the shop. We currently have just one volunteer doing this, so it would be useful to have more people to share the load. It involves giving the shop a quick sweep, helping sort the newspapers to go back to the supplier, cleaning and disinfecting the deli counter and meat slicer and some other small tasks. We don't need you to do this every night, maybe even just once a week to give the current volunteer a break!
A little cleaningOften the two paid staff don’t have time to empty shelves to give them a wipe down, because you can guarantee that once you’ve started, the shop fills up or an order comes in that needs putting away! An hour or two a week from somebody just to keep on top of the cobwebs would be wonderful, or if we get more than one offer, we can put together a rota.

The committeeThe Committee is entirely made up of volunteers except for the Treasurer. We meet every so often to discuss how we can keep the shop open and share ideas on fundraising. We'd love to have more people on the committee so you'd be warmly welcomed!
Become a shareholderPlease do get in touch if you'd like to become a shareholder. It costs just £25 a share and entitles you to vote at the Shop's AGM.
